Azerbaijani opera singer performs in Ukraine
Soloist of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre Gulnaz Ismayilova has played Violetta Valéry at "La traviata" opera by Giuseppe Verdi, which was staged at the Ukrainian National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Alfredo Germont was played by Aleksandr Dyachenko in the opera.
Ambassador Eynulla Madatli and the Azerbaijani Embassy staffers, representatives of the diplomatic corps, parliamentarians of the Verkhovna Rada, Chairman of Congress Ukrainian Azerbaijanis Hikmat Javadov watched the opera.
La traviata is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi set to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave. It is based on La dame aux Camélias (1852), a play adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas. The title La traviata means literally The Fallen Woman, or perhaps more figuratively, The Woman Who Strayed. It was originally entitled Violetta, after the main character.
