National wrestlers shine in Iran

The 35th International Senior Free style ,Greco-Roman and Pahlavani Wrestling Tournament "Takhti Cup" was held in the Iranian western province Kermanshah on February 12-13.

A total of 17 teams from all over the world took part in the competitions, including Russia, US, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, China, Pakistan, Kirghizstan, North Korea, Armenia, Hungary, Georgia, Egypt, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, India, Tunisia, and Turkmenistan.

Azerbaijan, which is considered as one of the strongest teams in the world participated in Free style ,Greco-Roman categories.

On the first day of the tournament, the national wrestler Taleh Mammadov at 59 kg took the victory over his compatriot Orkhan Ahmadov.

The national team gained one gold and one silver medals in the competition.

The first, second and third teams were awarded with cash prizes of 10,000, 7,000 and 5,000 dollars respectively.

Gholam Reza Takhti, after whom the competition has been named, was an Iranian Olympic gold-medalist wrestler.
