Russia not to take tough action against Georgia

Russia may seek to revise some trade parameters with Georgia after Tbilisi's signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, Georgian Prime Minister's Special Representative for Relations with Russia Zurab Abashidze said.

He noted Russia will likely take such a decision.

Abashidze also stressed that no knee-jerk reaction is expected by Russia against Georgia.

"Russia will not take any tough action against Georgia. A few months ago, when we said that Russia reacted calmly to the idea of Georgia's signing of association agreement with the EU, only a few people believed us," he said. "However, we have made some progress in bilateral relations, which affected the overall tone of relations between the two countries," he said.

Georgia will sign Association Agreement with the EU in Brussels on June 27.
