Astana prepares for official recognition of Expo-2017

The official recognition of the "Expo -2017" in Astana and the transfer of the official flag of the BIE to Kazakhstan will be held in June 2014 at the 155th General Assembly of the International Exhibitions Bureau.

This was mentioned at the Chairman of the board of JSC Expo-2017 Astana National Company, Talgat Yermegiyaev's speech at the special session on "EXPO- 2017: Preparation of the infrastructure of Astana" held at the VII Astana Economic Forum.

"The government of Kazakhstan pays great attention to the construction and preparation of the international specialized exhibition "EXPO -2017", which is an event of national significance. And in this case, the active participation of the citizens of Kazakhstan is the key of its success", - Yermegiyaev said.

He also noted that in April this year, President Nursultan Nazarbayev has laid a capsule, by launching the construction of the exhibition.

The session was attended by Secretary-General Advisor of the BIE on communication issues, Ivan Prostakov, Nobel Prize laureate in Physics (2006), George Fitzgerald Smoot III, special adviser to the United Nations Fund for the initiative "Sustainable Energy for All", Serge Martin, co-founder and managing partner of the TIMWE, Ricardo Carvalho.

Expo will be a unique part of the city in the future. World's best innovations will be applied to develop this project.

In particular Ricardo Carvalho said that "Today we would like to present some ideas about how the exhibition "Expo -2017" should help visitors to coordinate, facilitate transport and leisure, as well as about how the residents of this city would improve their standard of living after the exhibition. We believe that this event will raise Astana's development to the next level. This is the main idea". The expert suggests to present the living standards through mobile applications.
