Iran's Justice Court accuses ex-president of violating laws
Iranian ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2005-2013) was lying to the public, head of Iran's Administrative Justice Court, Mohammad Jaffar Montazeri said, ISNA news agency reported on Dec. 26.
Montazeri said the ex-president was violating laws overtly, despite the Administrative Justice Court's warnings.
In whom the people can trust, when the highest executive authority violates the laws, he added.
Ahmadinejad was summoned to appear before a criminal court to face charges over nine cases stemming from his term in office.
While Ahmadinejad had been due to appear before the court in Tehran on November 26 for a preliminary hearing, he refused to appear.
The judge presiding over the court decided to continue the hearing without him.
The cases against the former president include a delay in the operation of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a failure to implement the structure of the National Iranian Oil Company and a failure to allocate the budget for Iran's metro transport system.
Ahmadinejad has also been faced with accusations regarding the Iranian University fraud case.
Later in August, Iranian media outlets reported that Ahmadinejad had transferred some $6.45 million from the Iranian president's bank account to his private university's bank account. According to the report, the money was transferred to the private Iranian University's bank account on August 4 which was the same day as Hassan Rouhani was inaugurated as the country's new president.
Ahmadinejad decided to establish a university in the Iranian capital of Tehran. The country's Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution accepted Ahmadinejad`s application to establish the university.
There were some reports published about the Iranian Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution of not approving the list of university founders because of such people as Esfandiyar Mashaei and Hamid Baghaei being on it, who were previously criticised by conservatives and the country's religious leaders.
