Western sanctions inhumane as they target Iran's population - minister
Western sanctions are inhumane as they target Iran's general
population, the country's Health Minister Mohammad Hassan Tariqat
Monfared has said, Mehr news agency reported.
Tariqat Monfared made the remarks at the 65th session of the World
Health Assembly in Geneva.
He went on to note that the unilateral Western sanctions on Iran
are irrational.
"The international community should act to stop the measure because
it goes against international law and the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights," Monfared said.
In recent months, because of Western sanctions on Iran's banking
sector, the country has been unable to import life-saving
medications.
The shortage has put the lives of many patients at risk, especially
those suffering from cancer, multiple sclerosis and hemophilia.
