Timing of presidential election campaign programs in Iran announced

Iran's Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar has mapped out the timing of the presidential election campaign programs.

According to Najjar, the Interior ministry has two days to announce the names of presidential candidates after it receives the final list from the Guardian Council, Fars news agency reported.

During the two-day period, we will hold meetings with the approved candidates to discuss their election campaigns, he said.

Najjar went on to note that the candidates will then begin their campaigns.

The campaigning period will end 24 hours before the polls open, he added.

Najjar also called on presidential candidates to avoid campaigning before the specified time begins.

Over 66,000 polling stations will be set for the June 14 election.

It was announced earlier that Iranian expatriates will be able to cast their votes in Iran's 11th presidential election in 120 countries.

Nearly 300 polling stations have been set up abroad for Iranian expatriates to vote on June 14.

The Guardian Council will release the list of approved candidates on May 21.
