EXPO-2017 to spur development of green economy in Kazakhstan
Holding the international exhibition, EXPO-2017, will spur the development of a green economy in Kazakhstan, managing director of the Nazarbayev University, Kanat Baigarin, said.
"EXPO will give an impetus to the development of a green economy in Kazakhstan and will be an additional impetus for what we are expecting," he said at the 11th Eurasian Media Forum in Astana on Thursday. "EXPO is an opportunity for the whole region to see the green economy as all the Central Asian countries are connected by a variety of problems. EXPO will show that we can solve our common problems together. It is possible for the Central Asian countries to unite."
He added that while transiting to a green economy in case of political goodwill, Kazakh scholars and business will not remain aloof from investment projects and will be ready to compete with foreign investors.
The EXPO exhibition will be held in Astana in 2017. The theme of the exhibition is "Energy of future". A special national company has been set up to hold the exhibition at a high level in Kazakhstan.
