Georgia's trade with EU countries down 11 pct

Trade turnover of Georgia with the European Union countries amounted to $550 million in January-March 2013, which is 11 percent less compared to the same period of the last year.

Georgian Statistics Service said on Thursday that during this period, exports totaled $97 million (8-percent decrease) and import - $453 million (12-percent decrease).

According to the report, the share of EU countries in Georgia's foreign trade turnover amounted to 26 percent, including 17 percent in exports and 29 percent in imports.

Some 35 percent of the trade deficit (in January-March 2012, the figure was 34 percent) accounted for trade turnover with the EU countries during the reporting period.
