Iranian president says government has plans for protection of water resources
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that the
government has plans to protect country's water resources, IRNA
news agency reported.
Addressing reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to put into
operation Ardak reservoir dam, President Ahmadinejad said that
protection of environment and water resources are the priorities of
the government.
Elsewhere, the President highlighted significance of religious
tourism for Iran and that several hundred thousand foreign tourists
pay pilgrimage to holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), the eighth Imam of
Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) Infallible Household every year.
He explained high consumption of water in the holy cities due to
presence of millions of pilgrims and said that's why special
attention should be made to water shortage in those cities.
