By Trend
Turkey’s Supreme Military Council will hold a meeting on August 23, TRT Haber news channel reports.
The Council’s meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, according to the report.
The fight against terrorism in Syria, as well as against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) are planned to be discussed during the meeting.
This is the second meeting of the Supreme Military Council after the July 15 military coup attempt in Turkey.
Syria has been suffering from an armed conflict since March 2011, which, according to the UN, has so far claimed over 500,000 lives.
Militants from various armed groups are confronting the Syrian government troops. The “Islamic State” (IS, ISIL, ISIS or Daesh) is the most active terrorist group in Syria.
