Future of oil, gas sector in CIS region to be highlighted in Baku

Oliver Kinross, an internationally renowned business research organization will be holding its third annual Azerbaijan and Caspian Sea Oil and Gas Week on September 28-30 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baku.

The forum will bring together international exhibitors, more than 250 delegates and above 30 top level expert speakers.

The aim of the forum is to provide a platform in which oil and gas corporations, government officials, solution and service providers and global oil and gas experts who will be able to invest the abundance of new business opportunities in one of the world’s most exciting markets.

Energy-rich Azerbaijan is an important component of the global energy security market place.

In an interview with international news agency Trend.az, William Lahue, NATO Liaison Officer in the South Caucasus, has stressed the importance of protection from fluctuations for countries with multiple sources of supply.

He stated that “In this process Azerbaijan is going to be important, and its importance is growing.”

Lahue said Azerbaijan is set to be a transit country for gas imported from the western Caspian Sea region, such as Turkmenistan. Moreover, according to the assessment of the European Commission, the CIS area represents around 40 percent of the world’s aggregate oil production, and 33 percent of the total gas generation. In a report released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration on July 7, it was reported that Azerbaijan's oil production is expected to remain stable at 0.87 million barrels per day in 2015 and 2016.

In order to gain a competitive advantage, oil and gas organizations must deal with their CIS projects effectively by staying up-to date on the latest improvements in the country and by understanding how to increase productivity and profitability within the region.
