Socar Trading, Gasol sign alliance agreement
Socar Trading, a subdivision of Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR, and London-based Gasol company have signed a strategic alliance agreement on providing LNG for a proposed LNG import terminal in Benin, International Oil Daily reported with the reference to Gasol statement, according to Trend news agency.
According to the statement, under the terms of the agreement Socar Trading will supply all LNG required for the Gasol project and assist in the provision of a floating gas storage and a regasification vessel in the harbor at Cotonou, Benin.
The project involves regasification of LNG and supply of gas to power and industrial customers in Benin, Togo and Ghana.
SOCAR is the only producer of oil products in the country and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. Last year SOCAR purchased network of gas filling stations in Switzerland. SOCAR is co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim. The company carries out oil trade in various regions of the world through SOCAR Trading.
