Latvian PM tours Sangachal oil terminal
Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis on Friday visited the
Sangachal oil terminal, one of the world's largest terminals, which
holds Azerbaijan's crude, AzerTac state news agency reported.
The tour began from the Caspian Energy Center which was established
to increase youth interest in oil-gas sector.
Dombrovskis was told that large-scale energy projects had been
carried out in Azerbaijan thanks to national leader Heydar Aliyev's
successful oil strategy.
Dombrovskis was informed on the history of oil and gas production
in Azerbaijan, the main role of oil sector in the country's
economy, oil pipelines, oil and gas fields of the Caspian Sea,
progress achieved in the terminal and crude oil storages.
The Sangachal oil terminal houses a number of facilities including
three crude oil storage tanks with 880,000 barrels capacity each.
Sangachal terminal also hosts head pump station and the control
room. Located 45km south of Baku in the Garadag District, the
Sangachal Terminal is a vital link in Azerbaijan's oil and gas
industry.
Dombrovskis then was given a bus tour of the terminal to get
information about technological processes in the terminal.
