The bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus are developing successfully, Azerbaijan’s Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev said at a meeting with Belarusian Ambassador Nikolay Paskevich.

He noted the mutual visits and meetings between two sides play a special role in expanding the bilateral relations.

“The effective usage of existing potential to further expand the economic relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus is of great importance for both sides,” the minister added.

Paskevich, for his part, expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of Azerbaijan’s economy.

“Belarus pays special attention to cooperation with Azerbaijan. I am confidence that mutual cooperation of the two countries will be further expanded,” he noted.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed ways to increase trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Belarus, to create great opportunities to reach more positive development in this field, and to expand cooperation in various sectors of economy, in particular in agricultural engineering.

Azerbaijan and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1993. There is a vast potential for the development of investment cooperation between the two counties and for Azerbaijan's involvement in the projects implemented in Belarus.

Belarus is interested in increasing the capacity of Belarusian assembly plants operating in Azerbaijan, as well as implementation of new projects in construction, education, health, science and culture sectors.

The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $88.08 million in January-November 2014.
