INVAP, Argentina's high-technology company engaged in the construction and delivery of complex equipment, plants and devices, is ready to contribute to the development of the space industry in Azerbaijan.

Carlos Dante Riva, the newly appointed Argentinean Ambassador to Azerbaijan, made the remarks at a meeting with Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov in Baku on June 13.

According to Riva, there are broad opportunities for Argentinean-Azerbaijani cooperation in various sectors of the economy, including ICT and the space industry.

In February, Azerbaijan launched its first telecommunications satellite Azerspace, designed to provide digital TV and radio services, Internet access, data transmission, VSAT multi-service networks and governmental communications. A second telecommunications satellite, Azerspace-2, is expected to be launched into the orbit in 2018.

Riva said both countries prioritize technological advances. Argentina is interested in accelerating and expanding cooperation between the two countries, he said, touching upon the implementation of joint projects between INVAP and Azerbaijani space agency Azercosmos.

Minister Abbasov, for his part, said that Argentinean companies in the future will be able to take advantage of the State Fund for Development of Information Communication Technologies, Hi-Tech Park and the ICT University of the country.

Abbasov noted the importance of increasing the participation of Argentinean companies in the ICT market of Azerbaijan. The minister said Argentinean companies have been invited to participate in the Bakutel-2013 exhibition.

INVAP's mission is to develop state-of-the-art technology in different industrial, scientific and applied research fields, thus creating technological packages with high added value, to meet domestic requirements or to be exported to international markets. Its main activities are focused in areas including nuclear, aerospace, defense and industrial and medical equipment.

INVAP has designed and built several research and radioisotope production reactors worldwide, low orbit Earth observation satellites, industrial plants, radar systems and radiotherapy centers, etc.

The company supplies equipment to more than 30 countries and has offices in Australia, Brazil, Chile, Egypt and the United States.
