Military helicopter crashed near Baku pulled from water, black box found (UPDATE)

A military helicopter crashed near Baku on Monday was pulled from the water by rescuers.

Earlier on Tuesday, dead body of Yashar Mammadov, the third crew member of the MI-17 helicopter was found on the scene of crash. Dead bodies of two crew members, lieutenants Bahruz Zeynalov and Rustam Rustamov were found on Monday.

An informed law enforcement source told Trend news agency that a black box of the military helicopter was also found.

A helicopter belonging to Azerbaijani Air Force disappeared from radar on Monday at 10.30 and crashed near the beach in Shikhov, the Defense Ministry said.

According to preliminary data, the crash was due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

The modernization of the Mi-8 helicopter, which ended in 1980, led to the creation of an improved version, the Mi-8MT (designation Mi-17 is for export). The Mi-17 was fitted with 2 TV3-117 engines. The number of crew members on board of these helicopters is three people, while there is passenger seating for 24.
