Azerbaijani president meets Latvia’s PM
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday received a
Latvian delegation led by the country's Prime Minister Valdis
Dombrovskis, AzerTAc reported.
President Aliyev highly appreciated the level of bilateral
relations, adding that the visit of the Latvian Prime Minister to
Azerbaijan will contribute to the expansion of bilateral ties.
Aliyev said the Intergovernmental Commission plays a very important
role in the selection of priority directions of cooperation between
the two countries.
President Aliyev expressed his confidence that the visit of the
Latvian Prime Minister to Azerbaijan will be successful.
Valdis Dombrovskis, in turn, said he is visiting Azerbaijan for the
first time and is actually impressed by the country's development
process.
Dombrovskis stressed there are good opportunities for the expansion
of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia and underscored a
positive role of reciprocal visits in the development of bilateral
ties.
According to Dombrovskis, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and
Latvia has grown over the recent years.
The visit of Latvian businessmen to Azerbaijan is evidence of
Latvia's keen interest in the expansion of cooperation with
Azerbaijan, Dombrovskis said.
