Baku has named the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States as important regional platform for advancing cooperation and solidarity among its members.

The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) was established in 2009 as an international intergovernmental organization, with the overarching aim of promoting comprehensive cooperation among Turkic Speaking States, while its four founding member states are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.

"The 3rd of October, since the signing of Nakhchivan Agreement in 2009, which established the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States, has been celebrated as the Turkic Speaking States Cooperation Day,” says a statement, which Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry issued to mark the Day.

The Foreign Ministry reminds that the Turkic Council has been founded on four main pillars as common history, common language, common identity and common culture and serves as important regional platform for advancing cooperation and solidarity among its members.

" Azerbaijan highly values its bilateral and multilateral partnership with the brotherly member states of Turkic Council and remains strongly committed to the objectives of the organization, such as strengthening mutual confidence among the member states, maintaining peace in the region and beyond, promoting effective regional and bilateral cooperation in all areas of common interest, and creating favorable conditions for trade and investment,” the ministry added.

The activities of the Turkic Council are also supported by its related and affiliated organizations as Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking Countries (TURKPA), International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), Turkic Academy, Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation and Turkic Business Council.
