YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites everyone to the screening of two short films ‘Sasha’ and ‘Ruslan’, directed by Taisia Deeva on August 2, 2016.
The screening will be organized as a part of YARAT Film Club, which aims to become an informal meeting point for the viewing and discussion of contemporary art videos and films.
The short film Sasha has been screened at the competition programs of more than 10 international film festivals including the Oscar Qualifying short film program at Leeds International Film Festival.
Ten-year old Sasha tries to be on good terms with both of her divorced parents. But her innocent idea of family is shattered by reality when she goes to a picnic with her father and his new girlfriend.
The storyline of the second film is about a six year-old Ruslan, who is taken to a cemetery by his grandmother. There he sees a grave of a boy of his age. After confronting his grandmother with questions about life and death and not getting satisfying answers he hurries to share his knowledge with the children in his neighborhood.
Taisia graduated filmmaking at Met Film School with her film RUSLAN(2014) that won several awards at international short film festivals and was screened at more than 30 festivals all over the world including the Austin Film Festival 2014 where RUSLAN got nominated for the best student short.
The venue of the event is YARAT Contemporary Art Centre, Multifunctional Room. Entrance is free.
