Azerbaijan`s Eurovision entry continues promo-tour

Azerbaijan’s representative in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, Samra Rahimli has visited Israel in the framework of her promo tour, Trend life reports.

Samra joined a pre-party held in Tel Aviv along with contestants from other countries, and later answered the questions of foreign mass media.

Previously, the Azerbaijani singer attended the pre-party "Eurovision" in Russia.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm is going to be the biggest contest for years with 43 participants, equaling the record set in both 2008 and 2011.

Globen Arena, the venue for international song contest is the largest hemispherical building in the world. Its capacity is 16,000 seated spectators for shows and concerts.

The first semi-final which is due to take place on May 10 will bring together representatives from Russia, Croatia, Finland, Moldova, Armenia, Greece, Hungary, the Netherlands, San Marino, Cyprus, Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Montenegro, Iceland, Austria.

The second Semi-Final will bring together 19 representatives from Belarus, FYR Macedonia, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, Albania, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Georgia, Norway, Romania and Slovenia.

This year, the 21-year-old singer with her song “Miracle” has become Azerbaijan’s choice for the annual music contest.

Semra previously participated in the Eurovision national selection in 2012. Even though she couldn’t win the lucky ticket then, 16-year-old Samra became one of the public’s favorite as the youngest contestant.

In 2015 Semra participated in The Voice of Turkey where she made it to the quarterfinals and in March 2016 she became the first season’s finalist of The Voice of Azerbaijan where she performed ‘Say Something’.

Azerbaijan debuted at the Eurovision contest in 2008 and has always presented remarkable shows since then. On its fourth attempt with Ell and Nikki's Running Scared song, the Land of Fire won the event, bringing the contest to Baku’s Crystal Hall in 2012.

Last year Azerbaijani representative Elnur Huseynov, who competed for the second time at the contest after his debut in 2008, placed 12 with his mystical ballad “Hour of the Wolf”.
