Austrian Conchita Wurst won Eurovision Song Contest 2014 at the B&W Hallerne, Copenhagen, on May 10.

The song "Rise Like a Phoenix" won the contest with 290 points with a large margin of 52 over the second song from Netherlands and the third song from Sweden.

Conchita Wurst gained Austria's second Eurovision victory since 1966. The singer's image caused many arguments around the countries during the contest.

However, at the end, even Russia and Ukraine, that called to block Austrian entry, gave five points and eight points respectively to Conchita. Azerbaijan gave 1 point to the Austrian singer.

Eurovision Song Contest has been at various times the scene of successes hosting famous singers and bands like Celine Dion, Lordi, Urban Symphony, ABBA and others.

In Copenhagen, Azerbaijan was presented by a modern ballad, written by Johan Kronlund, Alessandra Gunthardt, and Stefan Orn, the author of "Running Scared", Azerbaijan's winning entry for Eurovision 2011.

This is the seventh time Azerbaijan participates in the ESC. The country debuted at the contest in 2008 and has always presented a remarkable show since then. Azerbaijani entry Dilara Kazimova stood at the 22nd place.

Dilara's strong voice was accompanied by a talented trapeze dancer's performance.

During the performance, the light on the stage flamed up and finally burned out towards the end of the song, covering the stage in a dark red with ice crystals reflected into the background.

Despite it, this year's song was not the one, the contest likes. However, the show has already made Dilara, famous in Azerbaijan, known around Europe.
