The anthology "Modern Azerbaijanian Prose" has been released in English by Trafford Publishing based in Bloomington, the US state of Indiana.

The book includes short stories and short novels covering the period of contemporary Azerbaijani prose spanning over 30 years. It was co-authored by Vagif Sultanly, a writer, literary critic and professor at the Baku State University department of modern Azerbaijani literature, and PhD Irej Ismaeli, an author based in Norway who hails from southern Azerbaijan.

This is the first time an anthology of Azerbaijani prose was published abroad in the English language.

During the Soviet times, in 1977, the Moscow-based Progress publishing house released such an anthology, which was edited by Mirza Ibrahimov. During the post-independence period, in 2003, some samples of Azerbaijani prose, translated and compiled by Prof. Zeydulla Agayev, were presented to readers in English in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.

The "Modern Azerbaijanian Prose" can be ordered on www.amazon.com.
