Azerbaijan to order light aircraft in Turkey

By Amina Nazarli

Azerbaijan will order some 40 light aircrafts from its neighbor Turkey.

Soon, the Turkish northwestern province Bolu will complete construction of a plant that produces light aircraft, where planes bound for Azerbaijan will also be designed.

All light aircraft built in Turkey will be locally produced.

In recent years, Turkey has focused on the development of its domestic industry within the "Objective 2023" project.

Earlier, the Turkish Research Center for Aerospace Technology (TUSASH) developed the first domestic training aircraft, the HURKUSH, which will go to the national Air Force in 2017.

The aircraft project included 50 engineers and more than 350 specialists.

The Center also produces parts for the F-16 fighter, passenger Airbus A380 and the A400M military aircraft airbus. Since last year, TUSASH has also begun production of diffusers for the Airbus A350.

Tests on the HURKUSH were successfully completed on August 29, 2013.

The Executive Committee of the Turkey’s Defense Industry decided to begin serial production of the aircraft.

According to the Turkish Air Force, the plant will produce 15 of these planes in the first stage.
