Azerbaijan invites Laos to participate in Baku-Tbilisi-Kars, North-South projects

Azerbaijan invites Laos to participate in the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the North-South transport corridor projects.

This was stated during a meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Ramiz Hasanov with a delegation from Laos led by Swanton Sayachak, member of the Central Committee of the People’s Revolutionary Party and Chairman of its Committee of foreign relations.

Hasanov said that the relations between Azerbaijan and Laos are based on historical roots, and noted that the two countries have been closely cooperating in various fields since the Soviet times. The deputy foreign minister praised the current state of bilateral and multilateral relations.

He stressed that the exchange of visits of Azerbaijan and Laos’ foreign ministers will give a strong impetus to the development of relations between the two countries. Hasanov also noted the importance of establishing a friendship group in the legislature of both countries in order to expand the ties between Azerbaijan and Laos.

Sayachak, in turn, commended the state of bilateral relations and noted that Laos and Azerbaijan enjoy useful cooperation within international organizations. She also mentioned the importance of continuing and expanding ties in the field of education between the two countries.

The parties further emphasized the wide potential for developing cooperation in the economic sphere. They noted the importance of encouraging investment and establishing direct contacts between the business circles of Azerbaijan and Laos.

The meeting also discussed the cooperation in the humanitarian field, agriculture, tourism and other areas, as well as the expansion of the legal framework.
