ANOC President arrives in Baku to attend European Games
The President of Association of National Olympic Committees will enjoy 17 days of the inaugural European Games in Baku.
Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, President of ANOC and Member of the International Olympic Committee, landed Wednesday night in Baku, where he will enjoy 17 days of competition and will participate in the Opening Ceremony on June 12.
Al-Sabah was greeted at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport by Mr Paul J. Foster, Protocol Director of the Baku 2015 European Games.
The Baku 2015 Games are organized by BEGOC under the guidance and supervision of the EOC.
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
