Azerbaijan considers buying shares of Georgia’s GOGC
By Trend
Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR is ready to consider obtaining shares of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC), if the share for sale is officially announced, a source in SOCAR told Trend on November 28.
The newly appointed Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said earlier at a meeting of the parliament that the Georgian parliament is ready to sell 25 percent per each the assets of the state-owned companies – Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and Georgian Railways.
GOGC is the operator of the North-South gas pipeline, via which Russian gas is delivered to Georgia and Armenia.
SOCAR is keen to activate its commercial operations and strengthen prestige of Azerbaijan worldwide. The company is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, as well as oil and chemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to the industry and the public in Azerbaijan.
