European Games organized at highest level,Israeli NOC says

Azerbaijan has organized the First European Games at the highest level, Igal Carmi, president of Israel’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) told Trend on June 22.

Carmi said the opening ceremony of the Games was one of the best ones, adding that it was very inspiring.

The president of Israeli NOC said that the opening ceremony of the European Games in Baku will be remembered for a long time.

The European Games that kicked off June 12, will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

Israeli athletes, participating at the European Games in Baku, visited two Jewish synagogues om June 22.

They first visited the synagogue of Mountain Jews, where the head of Mountain Jews Religious Community Milikh Yevdayev talked about the activities of the synagogues in Baku.

He said that Jews have been living in Azerbaijan for many centuries. Yevdayev also told the guests that the atmosphere of peace and tolerance predominates in Azerbaijan.

Then, the athletes visited the synagogue of the European Jews.

Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan Rafael Harpaz also took part in the meetings.
