Ancient tombstones have been discovered during archeological excavations near Tataramehelle village of Neftchala region.

Anar Agalarzadeh, the leading researcher of the  Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography Azerbaijan National Academy of Science, said that the tombstones in Zangi prove that the elements of the stone art were perfectly preserved, Trend reported

The  tombstones display quotes from the Holy Koran.

The phrase "Allah is eternal!" is decorated with different patters and elements.

Moreover, the gravestone with Christian cross has been also found in Qarabujaq village.

With 0.90x0.48 m size, it displays ancient inscriptions.

“Local residents say that there were a lot of such kind of gravestones in the 1960`s years of the twentieth century. While visiting this site, the Soviet government took several tombstones as a sample. Later, the cemetery was razed to the ground," said Agalarzadeh.

Archeological findings will be studied by specialists in Christian history.
