Shahdag enters Top 3 most popular resorts for trekking in CIS

The Shahdag Winter-Summer Tourism Complex located in one of Azerbaijan’s most picturesque regions has become a favorite place for many tourists since the opening of the complex.

The resort is one of the most advanced construction projects not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the world.

Shahdag enters Top 3 popular resort for mountain hiking among Russia and CIS countries, according to the tourist portal TurStat.

Rating of resorts tracking is compiled by the data of the hotel booking in summer season, taking into account the infrastructure and transport accessibility of resorts.

Krasnaya Polana in Sochi became the most popular place among trekking resorts, followed by Chimbulag in Kazakhstan.

TurStat reports that a mountain resort Shahdag on airfare and accommodation costs compete with resorts in Krasnaya Polyana, but it is far from the international airport, and is located in 230km of Baku and the Caspian Sea. Besides trekking, mountain lovers can enjoy mountain bike tours, Segway tours, trottinet, quad bike, bob-karting, zip-line and horseback riding during Shahdag summer vacation.

Shahdag offers guests a seemingly endless list of thrilling sports and leisure activities all year round. The resort offers various sport and recreational activities for all patrons regardless of age.

Taking a mountain tour with one of complex’s tour guides will give you a chance to discover the hidden beauties of the mountains. A horseback riding expedition will fill your vacation with an invaluable experience.

Year by year the number of tourists discovering this beautiful resort increases and despite Shahdag was opened only in December 2012, it could attract thousands of people.

The Shahdag complex located in 30 km north of the town of Gusar, stands 2,500 meters above sea level and serves as an outstanding getaway with its rich nature, fresh air, and wonderful climate, with temperatures ranging between minus 20-22 degrees Celsius in winter and 20 degrees in summer.

Preparations for the construction of the complex, which covers an area of 2,058 hectares, began in 2006. The Shahdag Winter and Summer Tourist Complex, is one of the most advanced construction projects not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the world.
