Turkey seeks to attract more Azerbaijani tourists

Turkey is interested in increasing the tourist flow from Azerbaijan, Governor of Antalya Munir Karaloglu told Trend on September 8.

A number of important steps will be undertaken to attract more Azerbaijani tourists, he said.

Turkey’s cultural capital Istanbul becomes the most favorite tourist destination for Azerbaijani citizens.

Over the eight months of 2016, the number of Azerbaijani tourists visiting Antalya reached a record number - 39,572.

For comparison, Turkey was visited by 35,674 people in 2015, while in 2014 it was 34,834. About 23,486 Azerbaijani citizens visited Turkey in 2013 and 20,126 Azerbaijani tourists in 2012.

Earlier, Turkey's Ministry of Culture and Tourism reported that in July 2016 the number of tourists visiting Turkey decreased by 36.7 percent compared to the same month last year and amounted to 3.4 million people.

The Turkish Statistical Institute reports that last year, the country was visited by 29,6 million tourists, of which 12.4 million visited Istanbul-.

In 2015, Turkey's income from tourism amounted to $31.5 billion, which is 8.3 percent less than in 2014.
