The Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR) has organized a military sports game on occasion of the Republic Day of Azerbaijan marked on May 28.

Board member of AYOR Emin Hajiyev, addressing the opening ceremony, emphasized the importance of healthy and active youth. Hajiyev also conveyed good wishes of the Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, head of AYOR Leyla Aliyeva.

Later, the tournament started with 13 teams in attendance. The teams went through 21 stages of various challenges: from logical problems to complex power exercises, including assembly and disassembly of a gun, carrying of heavy military equipment, throwing grenades, emergency medical services and transporting the wounded. All the teams were named after the Azerbaijani national heroes, who sacrificed their lives for their Motherland. The game was accompanied by national dances performed by Azerbaijani activists.

The joint team of the Russian State University of Management and Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University became the winner of the competition. The Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Moscow State Pedagogical University and “Higher School of Economics” National Research University shared the second and third places. The winner teams were awarded with memorable diplomas and prizes in three nominations: "For Unity", "For the Will to Win" and "For Possession of Weapons".

The Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia was established in 2009. The organization chaired by Leyla Aliyeva aims to bring together the Azerbaijani youth of Russia and to inculcate in young people the spirit of patriotism and encourage the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.

The Organization also aims to strengthen the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. Currently, AYOR is represented in 70 regions of Russia and has more than 30 branches in Moscow universities.

AYOR’s scope of activity also covers promotion of Azerbaijani culture, education, science and history, and nurturing in the youth a sense of responsibility for their future and the future of the whole world.
