Foreign manager to lead Azerbaijan's national football team

A foreign manager will replace the recently resigned German coach, Berti Vogts, as the head coach of Azerbaijan's national football team, President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan Rovnag Abdullayev said on November 7.
He announced that initially, a one-year agreement will be signed with the mid-level manager. A final decision will be made based on the results of his works over that period.
“Berti Vogts has left us halfway. Now we are focused on the
appointment of a new manager,” Abdullayev said.
Vogts stepped down on October 17 following a 0-6 defeat by the
Croatian team.
Abdullayev also commented on the match between Qarabag FK and
Dnipro on November 6 within UEFA Europa League group stage, saying
Azerbaijani footballers played well, but the luck was not on their
side.
Azerbaijan's national football team will face Norway in the qualifying round of the Euro-2016 at Bakcell Arena in Baku on November 16.
The national team will match strength with the Norwegian team under the management of interim coach Mahmud Gurbanov, a former member of the national team.
