Azerbaijan's Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov attended the 13th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport held in Macolin, Switzerland on September 17.

Azerbaijan was the first country to sign the European Convention on the manipulation of sports competitions among other countries. Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland was also presented at the signing ceremony.

Being one of the co-chairs of the conference, Rahimov stressed the importance of struggling against corruption in sports.

Noting that Azerbaijan is hosting a number of international sports events, Rahimov said that some actions are done to prevent spectators' violence in First European Games to be held in Baku in 2015.

"Azerbaijan constantly cooperates with the Council of Europe in this issue," the minister said.

Azerbaijan will be chairing the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe till October 31.

During the three-day conference, several resolutions, including " Corruption in sports management ", "Current Political Issues of Pan-European Sports Co-operation", "The role of governments in executing the World Anti-Doping Code in 2015", " Review of 1985 European Convention on Spectator Violence", were adopted.
