Azerbaijani minister to attend Council of Europe sport conference

Azerbaijan's Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov has left Baku for Macolin, Switzerland to attend the 13th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport. The event is being held on September 17-19.

At the event, the minister will draw the attention to prevention of spectators' violation during the European Games to be held in Baku in 2015, fight against corruption in sport and importance of holding such conferences.

Rahimov will also speak about the importance of expanding ties with the EU in sport development in Azerbaijan.

Rahimov is also expected to meet with Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland during the conference. The meeting will touch such important issues as strengthening of youth and sport relations between Azerbaijan and Council of Europe, "First Global Forum on Youth Policy" to be held in Baku and "No Hate speech movement" projects.

The presentation of Baku 2015 European Games will also be held during the conference.

Implementation of resolutions on "Corruption in sport management", "Cooperation between Council of Europe and European Union", "The Role of the governments in the World Anti-Doping Code 2015 implementation" and "Review of the 1985 European Convention on Spectator Violence" are expected to be adopted during the three-day conference.

The "European Convention on manipulation of sporting events" will be opened for the signing at the event.
