Azerbaijan's team shocks wrestling world

Azerbaijani wrestlers returned home with numerous medals from FILA Junior Wrestling World Championships 2014 held in Zagreb, Croatia from August 5 to 10.

The Azerbaijani team won six gold, three silver and three bronze medals.

Azerbaijan's athletes grabbed three out of the six gold medals on the first day of the tournament.

Elman Mukhtarov (60kg) showing a brilliant performance defeated Karen Aslanyan from Armenia 4-1. After a tense fight, Azerbaijani Ibrahim Nurullayev (50kg) won Oleksii Zhabsky from Ukraine 9-2. Orkhan Nuriyev (96kg) overcame his rival Seungjun Kim from Korea 2-0.

On the second day of the competition, Murad Mammadov (55kg) defeated Teishov Rustam 4-1 at the final. Another gold winner, Islam Abbasov (84kg) did not leave any chance for winning Denis Kudla from Germany and defeated him 5-3.

Former European champion Sabira Aliyeva (AZE) brought the curtain down on women's freestyle. Alieva battled six minutes with reigning European junior champion Anzhela Katayeva (RUS) for a 13-5 victory (72kg).

Mirjalal Hasanzade (55kg) lost the game with minimal difference against Russian Azmat Tuskayev in the final and took the second place.

During the game with Zelimkhan Khadjiyev from France, Mahammadhaji Mukhutov (74kg) did his best, but lose the fight with the score 4-1, thereby France wrestler took the victory.

The battle between Azerbaijani Ruhin Mikayılov (66 kq) and Georgian Shmagi Bolkvadze, completed with the victory of Georgian wrestler.

Vurgun Aliyev (60kg) could not show his strength and gave the ground to Dzianis Maksimau from Belarus, thus winning the bronze medal.

In the battle between Elmira Gambarova (AZE) and Burnebaatar Nyamgerel (MGL), Elmira could not win the silver medal and took the third place.

Despite the persistence Solmaz Hashimzade (AZE) lose the fight with Maschke Amber (CAN) with the score 9-6 and became the bronze medalist.
