Results of 4th day of Baku Cup 2014

Some 1/8 final matches took place on the 4th day of Baku Cup 2014 tournament on July 23.

Japanese tennis player Misa Eguchi played against Polish player Urszula Radwanska at the centre court of the Baku Tennis Academy (BTA). Eguchi, who won her fourth victory in the tournament, managed to move on to the 1/4 finals.

One more 1/4 finalist of the "Baku Cup 2014" was identified at the end of 4th day. Katarzina Piter from Poland played against Bojana Jovanovski from Serbia. Serbian player completely broke her rival`s resistance and ended the match with a 2-0 victory.

Next game was between Serbian Vesna Dolonts and player from Israel Shayar Peyer. the match which lasted 2 hours Peyer ended in her favor and she became one of the 1/4 finalists.

Last match of the 4th day was held between Slovak Jana Chepelova and French Pauline Parmentier. The eighth favorite of the tournament Pauline won the match with the score 2:0.

1/8 final competition of doubles also was carried out at the same day.

Duo of Janette Husarova (Slovak) and Klaudia Jans-Ignachik (Poland) faced Franceska Schiavone (Italy) and Stefanie Voegele (Switzerland). The latter gained the victory with the score 2:1.

The competition between Nigina Abduraimova (Uzbekistan) and Alyona Fomina (Ukraine) and players Misa Eguchi (Japan) and Patricia Mayr Achleitner (Austria) completed with the victory of the former by 2:0.

The other winners of doubles match were Russian Alexandra Panova and English Khiter Watson, who played against the duo of Boyana Yanovsky. The match score was 2:1.

The final of the tournament will take place in the Central Court on July 27, which seats 3,000 spectators.

The prize fund of the event will be $250 thousand this year.
