Baku Cup 2014 kicks off
The WTA "Baku Cup-2014" international tournament kicked off in Baku on July 21.
Thirty two highly ranked tennis players will compete in the main court, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Azerbaijan will be represented by young tennis player Nazrin Jafarova, who also participated in "Baku Cup-2013" and Zuleykha Safarova, for whom this tour will be the first.
During the course of the "Baku Cup" tournament, held annually since 2011, numerous tennis stars such as Vera Zvonareva, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Aravan Rezai, Boyana Yovanovski and Elina Svitolina, have visited Azerbaijan.
The games will be held in 4 tennis hard courts within the Baku Tennis Academy (BTA). The final will take place on July 7 in the Central Court, which seats 3,000 spectators.
This year the prize fund of the "Baku Cup" tournament to be held under the leadership of WTA Tour (Women`s Tennis Association), will be $250,000.
