Azerbaijani gymnasts win French Grand Prix

Azerbaijan's national team on rhythmic gymnastics became the champion of the Grand Prix Thiais held in France on March 8-9.

Sabina Abbasova, Aliya Pashayeva, Siana Vasileva, Diana Doman, Alexandra Platonova, and Aynur Mustafayeva won the final, performing under the "Blue Eternity" song of legendary Azerbaijani singer Muslim Magomayev.

The national team scored 17.25 points and left the Israeli team, which ranked second, and Chinese and French team, who shared the third place, behind.

The representatives of Germany, Austria, Brazil, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, and Ukraine also participated in the event.

Earlier, Azerbaijani gymnasts successfully performed at Grand Prix 2014 Moscow, gaining silver and bronze medals.

The main goal of the team is still the upcoming 30th rhythmic gymnastics championships which will be held in Baku in summer 2014.

This great event will bring together athletes from over 30 countries. They will be accommodated in the future Olympic Village built for the first European Games 2015 which will be held in Baku.
