UEG ex-president: Gymnastics format presented at 1st European Games was most memorable

Many memorable innovations were introduced during the work in
the European Union of Gymnastics (UEG), and the most memorable of
them was the format of the competitions during the First European
Games, Georges Guelzec, former UEG president told Trend Dec. 2.
He noted that a joint organization of competitions in various kinds
of gymnastics was organized then , which was very important.
Saying that he has been serving at the UEG for 24 years, Guelzec
voiced hope that the European Gymnastics Union would be
strengthened in order to continue the started work and the
competitions will be held at an even higher level.
Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation Secretary General Farid Gayibov
was elected as the President of the European Union of Gymnastics
(UEG).
The 50 member Federations of the UEG elected the new UEG
authorities at the 27th Congress in Split, Croatia Dec.2.
Gayibov gained 28 votes, leaving behind Edvard Kolar, President of
the Management Board of the Slovenian Sports Lottery, who received
20 votes. Gayibov will replace Georges Guelzec (FRA), who led the
UEG since 2009.
