Taekwondo fighters to compete in Greece

Azerbaijani taekwondo fighters will compete for medals in the 2nd WTF President's Cup 2017 to be held in Athens, Greece.

The tournament will bring together 2,182 taekwondo fighters from 51 countries.

The public will have the chance to watch live the all-time record tournament of participation in G-Ranking events worldwide

Azerbaijan's hopes will be pinned on 35 fighters, Azertac reported.The Olympic Champions in Rio 2016 Radik Isayev from Azerbaijan who is also World and European Gold medallist will also take part at the tournament.

The tournament was introduced in the European continent during the 2016 in the city of Bonn in Germany and one year later it became an all-time record event.

The supremacy of the event is highlighted also by the participation of top-class Taekwondo athletes, who managed to achieve to climb on the winners’ podium during the Olympic Games, World and European Championships.

Therefore, the 2nd WTF President’s Cup welcomes 14 Olympic medallists.

Taekwondo is one of the most popular sports in Azerbaijan. The National Taekwondo Federation has trained many prominent athletes since its founding in 1992. Many of those athletes now enjoy international recognition.

The Federation’s training facility houses new, state-of-the-art training equipment and has a proud history of bringing up more than 500 black belt recipients and athletes.
