Azerbaijan's media freedom record is the worst in the South Caucasus, Reporters without Borders claims. In its freedom of speech index, the worldwide press freedom organization said Azerbaijan holds 150th place out of 173 countries, while Armenia is 88th and Georgia 120th. Reporters Without Borders explained Georgia's setback by the fact that several journalists were killed in the country, while others were faced with pressure while covering the recent conflict with Russia. According to the report, the best countries for freedom of speech are Iceland, Luxembourg and Norway, while the worst are Eritrea in North Africa, which is followed by North Korea and Turkmenistan. The best country in the CIS is Ukraine, while countries of Central Asia are still considered restrictive: Uzbekistan is 162nd and Turkmenistan 171st, Reporters Without Borders said.
