The implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran’s nuclear program still requires close attention of all concerned parties at this stage.

The statement was made by Yukiya Amano, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the Board of Governors of the organization on June 6.

Amano noted that the process is in its initial stages. Within the next few months and years, continuation of the firm commitment of all parties is necessary for the stable implementation of the JCPOA.

The nuclear deal is still fragile, and more efforts are needed to make the deal sustainable, he said earlier.

Following the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, the Islamic Republic has asked the organization to be more protective of the country's secret information.

"The notice was given since we are approaching the time for implementation of an important part of the Additional Protocol, based on which after six months a preliminary announcement should be presented by Iran," said Tehran's Ambassador to the IAEA Reza Najafi, IRNA reported on June 8.

Under the Additional Protocol to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, the IAEA is granted expanded rights of access to information and sites. By enabling the IAEA to obtain a much fuller picture of states' nuclear programs, plans, nuclear material holdings and trade, the Additional Protocol helps to provide much greater assurance on the absence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in those states.

Earlier in May, Amano confirmed Iran’s fulfillment of its commitments under the nuclear agreement. He stated that Iran had not pursued the construction of the existing Arak heavy water research reactor and had not enriched uranium above low levels

The IAEA is inspecting Iran's commitment to the JCPOA of the last year.

In addition to the deal, Iran has decided to voluntarily observe the Additional Protocol as a trust-building move.

Iran and the world powers concluded a historical deal on the resolution of long-simmering problem on Iran’s nuclear program in Mid-2015.

The negotiations held since 2006 resulted in the adoption of JCPOA which limits Iran's capacity to manufacture a nuclear weapon in exchange for relief from certain economic and financial sanctions previously imposed on Iran by the UN Security Council, the U.S. and the EU.

According to this agreement, Iran agreed to eliminate its stockpile of medium-enriched uranium enriched, cut its stockpile of low-enriched uranium by 98%, reduce the number of its gas centrifuges by about two-thirds for 13 years and for the next 15 years, Iran will only enrich uranium up to 3.67%.
