Kazakhstan reveals grain export volumes

Kazakhstan has announced volumes of its grain export.

The country has exported about 7.6 billion tons of grain (including flour) since early 2016, reads a report issued by the country’s Agriculture Ministry.

Grain exports totaled 4.9mn tons, while flour exports stood at 1.8mn tons, the ministry said. This year's target for grain exports has been met at 92.5% so far.

Grain is a top agricultural export item for Kazakhstan, which exports grain mainly to neighboring Central Asia states, Iran, Turkey, China and the Caucasus. The increase in exports was driven by better harvest and depreciation of the tenge, which increased competitiveness of Kazakh grain.

In 2015, Kazakhstan harvested 18.7mn tons of grain in clean weight, up from 17.2mn tons in 2014.

The area of sowing for the spring period is expected to reach the size of 18.4 million hectares.

The state budget of Kazakhstan approximately allocated 60 billion tenge ($ 1.7 billion) to the organization of field operations.
