Iran is preparing situations to be able to resume the enrichment of uranium if the group P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) fail to uphold their obligations based on a nuclear agreement with the Islamic Republic.

The remarks made by Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament Alaeddin Boroujerdi on the national TV IRIB on June 13.

"We demand our right to continuing research and development in the area," he asserted.

He went on to say that the U.S. insists on suspending economic sanctions on Iran rather than removing them.

Iran and the six powers are holding talks to reach a comprehensive deal on the country's nuclear program. The six powers are trying to limit Iran's nuclear activities through the deal, while Tehran is calling for the removal of the entire sanctions posed on its economy thereby.

"What we believe in is that the UN Security Council, US Congress, and US government sanctions must be lifted at once," Boroujerdi said.

"If the sanctions are not removed, we will in return discard the limitations we have accepted and will continue the program as before," he stressed.

Iranian nuclear negotiators said the talks have slowed down as the sides are reaching the June 30 deadline to strike an agreement.

Both sides maintain a lot of details remain on which agreement is still to be reached.
