Khamenei calls Iran ’s nuclear negotiators to insist on Tehran interests

Iran’s Supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has called on the Iranian nuclear negotiators to stand firm on the Islamic Republic’s principal stances in the ongoing talks with the P5+1.

Khamenei made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian MPs in Tehran on May 27, Trend reports.

Iran’s negotiators are working hard, making big efforts, however they should insist on the Islamic Republic stances to safeguard the interests of the country and Islamic government.

Khamenei also said that his stance towards the Islamic Republic’s nuclear case is not different from what is shared with the public, the official website of the Khamenei reported.

The Iranian supreme leader said he has informed the officials on his stances “written and verbal,” emphasizing that his viewpoints are the Islamic Republic’s principles.

The nuclear case has become a stalemate currently, Khamenei said, adding that if all Iranian officials believe on using domestic capacities, resolving the nuclear issue will be easy.

“I know we are facing lack of resources and the sanctions impact the options as well, but you should find the solution,” he said.

“The solution is thrift,” Khamenei said, adding priorities should be respected. There is no impasse and lack of the resources is not an insoluble knot, he underlined.

He also said that lack of resources should not be used as an excuse to not make things work.

Khamenei has emphasized that Tehran would never allow any inspection of its military sites or interview with its nuclear scientists under any nuclear deal with the P5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany).

Access to military sites and nuclear scientists are within the PMD (possible military dimensions) framework, which the Western powers claim Iran must have in its nuclear program, thus demanding Iran grant access to its military sites as a trust-building move.

Iran and the P5+1 reached a mutual understanding on Tehran ’s nuclear program in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2. The parties have agreed to finalize a comprehensive deal on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program by the end of June.
