Iran says common technical understanding reached in nuclear talks

Iranian official, who is engaged in nuclear negotiation with the United States, has said a common technical understanding has been achieved.

Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, who is negotiating with Ernest Moniz, the U.S. Energy Secretary on nuclear agreement said he is optimistic about the result of nuclear talks, Fars news agency reported.

Iran’s nuclear team, headed by foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif resumed the nuclear talks with the U.S. on March 25.

Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs and Majid Takht-Ravanchi, deputy foreign minister for European and American affairs met with Wendy Sherman, the under secretary of state for political affairs in Lausanne, Switzerland on March 26.

Zarif and John Kerry, the U.S. secretary of state also kicked off a fresh round of talks in Lausanne as part of broader negotiations between Iran and six world powers aimed at clinching a final deal over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Iran and P5+1 are attempting to reach a political deal by late March, as well as a comprehensive nuclear agreement by late June.

The previous round of nuclear negotiations ended in Lausanne on March 20 after six days of intensive and serious talks between representatives from Iran, the U.S. and the European Union.
