By Sara Rajabova
The volume of remittances to Tajikistan by late 2014 amounted to $ 3.9 billion, which is 8.3 percent less than in 2013 year.
National Bank of Tajikistan said the majority of remittances last year were carried out in Russian rubles, Tajik Avesta news agency reported.
The Russian ruble was 89.1 per cent of total remittances. Remittances in dollars and euros accounted for 10.8 percent and 0.1 percent respectively.
NBT also said Russian banks and credit organizations of Tajikistan jointly determine the cost of providing services of money transfer.
At the moment there is no official information on raising or lowering the cost of providing services in translation from Russian banks, according to the regulator.
Somoni is a national currency of Tajikistan, which became a worthy replacement of the Tajik Rouble. The somoni was introduced on 30 October 2000. It replaced the Tajikistani ruble, at the rate of 1 somoni = 1000 rubles.
