Georgia attracts number of foreign companies

Representatives of five large companies will visit Georgia in the nearest future to discuss the investment opportunities as a result of the bilateral meetings with the Georgian representation in Davos.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili arranged number of meetings with different company representatives under the visit to World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

The French-based company Louis Dreyfus Group, which stands for activities in agricultural, oil, energy and commodities fields, is one of those companies having an interest towards Georgia. Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, Head of the company, agreed with Garibashvili that the representatives of Louis Dreyfus Group will visit Georgia soon.

Garibashvili said the Georgian government has created liberal conditions for investors in the country.

Another large company preparing to send its representatives to Georgia is Hanwha Group, one of the largest business groups in South Korea involved in manufacturing and trading.

Garibashvili highlighted the introduced Georgia's benefits from Association Agreement and its part, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area to Dong Kwan Kim, Hanwha Group’s Director. He added that the European Union markets, including 28 countries and more than 500 million customers, are now open for Georgia.

The third company, which revealed its investment intentions in Georgia, is Tech Mahindra, an Indian multinational provider of information technology, networking technology solutions and business support services to the telecommunication industry. HCL Technologies, an Indian global IT services company has also expressed its readiness to discuss investment opportunities in Georgia.

Garibashvili has also met with Martin Gilbert, CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management, an international investment management group that manages assets for institutions and private investors around the world.

Aberdeen Asset Management has already invested more than $ 300 million in securities issued by Georgia and the Georgian companies. The company representatives assessed positively Georgia’s policy in terms of judicial independence and improvements achieved in protection of private property rights.

Garibashvili will reportedly keep on bilateral meetings with different company representatives scheduled under the participation at the global business forum in Davos.
