Iran to hold large-scale military drills

Iran will hold a large-scale military exercise dubbed “Mohammad Rasulullah” from December 25 to December 31, 2015, ISNA news agency quoted the deputy commander of Iran’s armed forces, Abdurrahim Moussavi, as saying.

He said the military exercises will be held in an area of 2.2 million square kilometers.
“The exercises will involve the navy, air forces, land forces of Iran and the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC),” Moussavi said.

He explained that the navy’s exercise will be held in the east of the Strait of Hormuz, while the land forces will hold the exercises in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province and a part of the Hormozgan Province.

Currently the Iranian armed forces are preparing for the exercises, he said, adding that new weapons and tactics will be tested, and joint operations will be conducted during the exercises.

He said young commanders will improve their experience at the general staff of Iranian armed forces.

Iranian media reported that Tehran also plans to hold prior to March 2015 the air defense forces’ exercises, dubbed the “Defenders of the Sky of our Province-5”.
